The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Associate Visual Designer to join our Strategic Marketing Solutions team. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career designer to contribute to impactful visual storytelling across exhibitions, programs, and institutional initiatives at one of the nation’s leading art museums.

About the Role

The Associate Visual Designer supports the development and production of high-quality visual assets across print, digital, and environmental platforms. Working under the guidance of Senior Visual Designers and the design leadership team, this role executes design concepts, prepares production-ready files, and contributes to cohesive brand experiences across the Museum.

This position offers meaningful hands-on experience and the opportunity to grow within a dynamic creative team.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute design projects across digital, print, and environmental formats

  • Apply established brand standards to ensure visual consistency

  • Prepare production-ready files for print and digital distribution

  • Assist with mock-ups, layouts, and installation graphics

  • Support coordination with vendors and fabricators

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Curatorial, Education, and Development teams

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 1–3 years of professional design experience or relevant internships

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating typography, layout, and visual communication skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment
