The incumbent of this position will serve as the primary assistant for final decision-making in agency legal matters involving the Department of Children and Family Services- Child Welfare section litigation and programmatic issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law plus five years of experience as a practicing attorney.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Incumbent represents the agency at meetings and conferences with federal agencies, other state agencies, political subdivisions, advisory groups and other stakeholder groups.
  • Incumbent organizes, direct, and implements legal administrative activities to provide legal support to clients.
  • Incumbent evaluates judicial orders and monitors pending litigations to advise management of potential decision and outcomes.
  • Conducts research and issues advisory opinions to program staff and management.
  • Develops or assists in the development of budget recommendations for DCFS.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.
