Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant

Job Title: Bookkeeper / Payroll Specialist (Part‑Time)

Location: Texas Hill Country

About Us We are a small, fast‑growing construction business seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented bookkeeping professional. This role supports our financial operations so our team can stay focused on running the business day‑to‑day. The position is part‑time with flexible hours.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping

  • Enter and categorize bills, receipts, and expenses
  • Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Online
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts monthly
  • Track job‑related expenses and ensure proper coding
  • Prepare monthly financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, etc.)

Payroll & Compliance

  • Process payroll (owner will review/approve before submission)
  • Handle quarterly payroll filings
  • Prepare W‑2s, 1099s, and year‑end payroll documents
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements

Tasks Retained by Owner

  • Approving and paying bills
  • Creating and sending invoices
  • Any urgent, same‑day tasks requiring immediate action

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with QuickBooks Online
  • Experience with payroll systems (QuickBooks Payroll, Gusto, ADP, etc.)
  • Understanding of construction or job‑costing preferred
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and responsiveness
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality

Hours & Compensation

  • Part‑time: approximately 5–10 hours per week to start
  • Flexible schedule
  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience
