Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant

Job Title: Assistant Bookkeeper (Construction – Multifamily Renovations)
Location: Raleigh, NC (Remote with occasional in-person training)

$55,000 – $65,000 per year (based on experience)

Job Overview
We are a growing construction company specializing in multifamily renovations, exterior painting, exterior repairs, and other construction work., and we’re looking for a highly organized and proactive Assistant Bookkeeper to join our team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working independently, and takes ownership of their work. You will support financial operations across multiple active projects, helping ensure accurate records, smooth workflows, and strong financial organization.

This is a primarily remote (work-from-home) position, with occasional in-person training and team collaboration in the Raleigh area.

Key Responsibilities

• Record daily financial transactions, including job costs, vendor invoices, and expense tracking
• Assist with job costing and project-based accounting for multiple construction projects
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable (AP/AR) processes
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
• Prepare and enter journal entries into the general ledger
• Support month-end close and financial reporting
• Maintain organized digital records of invoices, receipts, and project documentation
• Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve discrepancies
• Assist with payroll support and tracking labor costs
• Proactively identify issues, missing information, and process improvements

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Experience with QuickBooks (required)
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations
• High level of organization and attention to detail
• Proactive, self-starter mindset with ability to work independently
• Strong Excel and data entry skills
• Excellent communication and follow-up skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in construction, property management, or job costing
• Familiarity with multifamily renovation projects
• Understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP)
