JOB SUMMARY

The Buyer is responsible for maintaining customer and vendor relationships, supporting inventory control, and researching and purchasing products for resale. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication with both internal teams and external suppliers.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Oversee and maintain inventory to meet or exceed fill rate, inventory turns, and ROI for each assigned supplier
  • Assess financial impact of purchases vs KPI attainment
  • Review buy patterns for COGs saving opportunities
  • Review of supplier requirements for DC and satellite locations, initiate any needed transfers weekly
  • Develop and maintain relationships with wholesalers and suppliers
  • Maintain accurate Supplier cost, part number, description, UOM.
  • Process Drop Ship Orders as required
  • Resolve pricing, receiving, and supplier mis-ship issues with AP and Operations team
  • Reconcile QTY, UOM, pricing and receiving discrepancies in Dataserv (A/P software)
  • Resolve supplier related receiving errors
  • Assist Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable in resolving pricing/volume discrepancies
  • Implement set up of new stocking items which includes stock status change, location addition, and forecasting and replenishment setting.
  • Set up new items in the ERP system (Epicor P21)
  • Manage and maintain P21 expiring contracts
  • Initiate contract negotiations with wholesalers and suppliers as required
  • Complete pricing requests for new business
  • Contact suppliers for inventory return requests. Enter and process inventory returns in P21
  • Expedite escalated tickets
  • Research product alternatives in support of SA and CR
  • Review of turn and earn report for stock vs Non stock status changes regularly. Communicate changes and requests forecasting from SA’s to update stock status or usage forecast
  • Review supplier special cost refreshable for updating and review expiring special cost contracts monthly. Enter new special cost data in P21.
  • Troubleshoot inventory tickets, manage exceptions for immediate response and identify opportunity for general improvements.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
