In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. Summary

Plans and executes the procurement of standard and custom materials and/or services, which may be designated as sole or single-source items, designed, manufactured, or specified exclusively for the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC). Develops and executes a procurement strategy that provides the best value and prioritizes quality and on-time performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs all procurement activities and administers purchase orders in conformance with applicable purchasing procedures and policies.
  • Analyzes requisitions and related drawings and specifications; identifies/selects suppliers; determines the type of order to be issued; issues requests for proposals; negotiates prices, terms and conditions, and delivery schedules; places purchase orders; assures product delivery, negotiates delivery schedule changes, and develops inventory plans as required.
  • Initiates and coordinates discussions or meetings between suppliers and internal departments to resolve procurement-related problems.
  • Analyzes pricing, production, and inventory trends to assure competent supply sources and economical procurement.
  • May serve as a full-time member of respective purchased product teams and other cross-functional teams and be involved with the development and implementation of strategic supplier management concepts.
  • Assures product delivery.
  • Plans, schedules, and negotiates orders utilizing ERP planning recommendations.
  • Negotiates settlements on rejected material and claims resulting from purchase order changes or terminations.
  • Approves supplier invoices for payment when necessary.
  • Interaction with internal next assembly users, Product Engineering, Program Management, Product and Field Quality, Accounting and the Design Agency for requirements clarification, planning, product status reviews and problem resolution.
  • Analyzes need and prepares requests for advance procurement authorizations. Prepares reports as requested by supervision or as required by procedures.
  • Provides guidance and necessary training to lower classifications in purchasing techniques.
  • Negotiates directly with suppliers; completes in-depth price analyses, marketplace surveys, and sole and single-source justifications
  • Develops formal negotiation plans; implements quality requirements; resolves exceptions to KCNSC terms and conditions; and has the possible involvement with cost and pricing data and cost accounting standards.
  • Develops and provides input to the purchased material budget as appropriate to assure commitment or incurrences as required.

You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two or more years of progressive procurement experience
  • Ability to travel as determined by the needs of the business
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
