Key Responsibilities
1. Labor Management & Site Execution
- Frontline Supervision: Directly lead and manage gangs of shuttering carpenters and helpers to ensure daily production targets for formwork are met.
- Work Allocation: Assign daily tasks to the carpentry team based on the priority of work fronts and ensure every worker understands the specific dimensions and safety requirements.
- Material Coordination: Coordinate the timely delivery and preparation of carpentry materials (timber, plywood, H20 beams, steel shutters, and formwork systems like Doka or Peri) to the work area.
- Productivity: Monitor and drive the pace of shuttering work to align with the weekly look-ahead schedule, reporting any delays or material shortages to the Site Engineer immediately.
2. Quality & Technical Compliance
- Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret architectural and structural shop drawings to ensure formwork is erected to the exact dimensions, levels, and verticality required.
- Inspection Readiness: Ensure that all shuttering and formwork are completed to the required quality standards and are properly oiled, sealed, and braced before calling for an internal inspection.
- Accuracy: Verify the alignment and stability of formwork during the construction process to prevent grout leakage or structural bulging during concrete pouring.
3. Safety & Documentation
- HSE Enforcement: Enforce strict adherence to UNEC’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies. Conduct daily Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and ensure all carpenters are wearing appropriate PPE.
- Safe Work Practices: Monitor high-risk activities such as working at height, ensuring all guardrails, working platforms, and safety harnesses are used correctly.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate daily logs of labor attendance, material usage, and work progress. Report any site incidents or near-misses immediately.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Secondary School Certificate or Technical Diploma in Carpentry/Construction.
- Experience: Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience in shuttering carpentry, with at least 5 years as a Carpenter Foreman on large-scale high-rise or mixed-use projects in the UAE/GCC.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of specialized formwork systems (e.g., Doka, Peri, Meva).
- Proven ability to manage large, multi-national labor forces (30+ workers).
- Ability to read and understand complex blueprints and structural details.
- Language Skills: Fluency in Hindi/Urdu and basic English is essential for communicating with the workforce and management.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership presence, excellent spatial awareness, and the physical stamina required for extensive site-based supervision.
