Role Overview

The Category Manager – Seafood & Gourmet is responsible for owning the end-to-end performance of the Seafood and Gourmet categories in Oman. This includes category strategy, supplier management, sourcing, pricing, range optimization, food safety compliance, margin delivery, and collaboration with Sales, Supply Chain, QA, and Operations to drive sustainable growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction across HORECA and retail segments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the category strategy aligned with Bidfood ME commercial and growth objectives.
  • Own range architecture, SKU rationalization, new product development, and seasonal promotions.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, contracts, rebates, and performance reviews (local & international).
  • Manage pricing, margins, and cost fluctuations, especially for imported seafood and gourmet items.
  • Ensure food safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance (Oman, GCC, imports).
  • Collaborate with Sales to support key accounts, tenders, and menu development.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to manage forecasting, availability, shelf life, and waste reduction.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Drive private label and exclusive sourcing opportunities where applicable.
  • Prepare and present category performance reports to senior management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Food Science, or Hospitality.
  • 5–8 years of experience in category management, buying, or procurement within FMCG, foodservice, or seafood trading.
  • Experience in Seafood and/or Gourmet / Premium food categories is mandatory.
  • GCC or Oman market experience preferred.
