Position: Chef de Partie/Commi – Bakery
Job Summary
The Chef de Partie/Commi – Bakery is responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting high-quality baked goods while supervising junior kitchen staff. The role ensures consistency, food safety compliance, and adherence to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake breads, pastries, cakes, and other bakery items according to recipes and standards
- Manage daily bakery production and mise en place
- Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation
- Supervise and guide Commis Chefs and bakery assistants
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the kitchen for requisitions
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with food safety regulations (HACCP)
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients and finished products
- Minimize food wastage and control costs
- Assist in developing new bakery and dessert items when required
- Ensure equipment is used and maintained properly
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Proven experience as Chef de Partie or Senior Commis in Bakery/Pastry section
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Bakery, or Pastry is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dough preparation, and pastry basics
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Team player with good communication skills
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
