Key Responsibilities
1. Labor Management & Site Execution
- Frontline Supervision: Directly lead and manage gangs of skilled and unskilled laborers (carpenters, steel fixers, masons) to ensure daily production targets are met.
- Work Allocation: Assign daily tasks to team members based on the priority of work fronts and ensure everyone is clear on their specific duties and safety requirements.
- Material Coordination: Coordinate the timely delivery of materials (rebar, timber, concrete) to the work area, ensuring the team has the necessary tools and supplies to work without interruption.
- Productivity: Monitor and drive the pace of work to align with the weekly look-ahead schedule, reporting any delays or resource shortages to the Site Engineer immediately.
2. Quality & Technical Compliance
- Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret civil/structural shop drawings and reinforcement schedules (BBS) to guide the workforce in accurate execution.
- Inspection Readiness: Ensure that all works are completed to the required quality standards before calling for an internal inspection by the QA/QC team or Site Engineer.
- Accuracy: Verify levels, dimensions, and the verticality of structural elements (columns, walls, slabs) during the construction process to minimize rework.
3. Safety & Documentation
- HSE Enforcement: Enforce strict adherence to UNEC’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies. Conduct daily Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and ensure all workers are wearing appropriate PPE.
- Safe Work Practices: Monitor high-risk activities such as working at height or near heavy machinery, ensuring all safety barriers and access platforms are correctly installed.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate daily logs of labor attendance, equipment usage, and work progress. Report any site incidents or near-misses immediately.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Secondary School Certificate or Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering/Construction.
- Experience: Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience in civil construction, with at least 5 years as a Civil Foreman on large-scale high-rise or mixed-use projects in the UAE/GCC.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of civil construction sequences (shuttering, steel fixing, casting).
- Proven ability to manage large, multi-national labor forces (50+ workers).
- Ability to read and understand complex structural blueprints and survey markings.
- Language Skills: Fluency in Hindi/Urdu and basic English is essential for communicating with the workforce and management. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership presence, excellent problem-solving abilities on the field, and a high level of physical stamina for extensive site-based work.
