CLIENT ACCOUNTING SERVICES - STAFF & SENIOR

Description:

We're seeking a skilled and tech-savvy Outsourced Accounting Services Superstar to join the CAS Department at our firm. This role focuses on delivering comprehensive outsourced accounting, payroll, HR/benefits administration, and cash management services to clients—particularly in agricultural and other business sectors. You'll handle accurate transaction coding, timely payroll processing, benefits/PTO setup, check signing/cash management tasks, and more, all while maintaining exceptional organization and workflow efficiency.

The position offers excellent flexibility: work in-office at our locations in Dunn, NC or Fayetteville, NC, choose a hybrid schedule, or go fully remote—whatever enables you to perform at your best.

About the Role

In this CAS pod, we provide a full suite of services that blend bookkeeping, payroll processing, HR/benefits support, and check signer/cash management responsibilities. You'll support clients by ensuring transactions are coded accurately in accounting software, payrolls are processed on time and error-free, benefits and PTO are set up correctly, and cash management needs are handled reliably. Success requires strong technical comfort, research skills to investigate transactions independently, good judgment to know when to escalate questions, and the ability to prioritize effectively using our workflow software (Workstream).

Key Responsibilities

Client Service Excellence

  • Understand and meet client deadlines; monitor project due dates in Workstream and coordinate timely delivery of all Outsourced Accounting Projects.
  • Scope engagements, manage client expectations, drive high satisfaction, and communicate proactively upward within the firm.
  • Conduct thorough self-reviews and correct work before reviewer submission.
  • Take full ownership of assignments, delivering superior quality, thoroughness, and accuracy.
  • Propose solutions when raising issues to clients or team members.
  • Learn from feedback and adjust approaches for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Clearly communicate requests/questions to clients, document notes meticulously, and reduce repeat inquiries.
  • Stay highly organized with open items lists, PBC requests, client files, and workpapers.

People Management & Relationships

  • Escalate internal questions/issues to the right team members or levels.
  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues.
  • Proactively share work status updates and contribute effectively in weekly team meetings.
  • Be an adaptable team player who embraces diverse personalities and styles.
  • Own your career development and seek internal advisors/mentors to reach your goals.

Productivity & Business Growth

  • Deliver high-quality work on time, within scope and budget.
  • Help standardize CAS procedures and ensure firm-wide compliance.
  • Build knowledge of the firm's full service offerings and capabilities.
  • Meet productivity and realization targets.
  • Route client concerns to appropriate team members and offer insightful input on resolutions.

Expertise & Technical Skills

  • Manage workflows efficiently for on-time delivery.
  • Master and utilize all firm software/tools, including Workstream and accounting platforms.
  • Analyze client data and prepare accurate financial statements.
  • Apply lessons from past engagements to new clients, continuously expanding expertise.
  • Spot and implement process efficiencies.
  • Organize, analyze, and interpret client-specific information and research.
  • Identify technical challenges, propose alternatives, and apply payroll tax/accounting regulations appropriately.
  • Recognize knowledge limits; research independently but ask targeted questions when needed.
  • Accurately code transactions in accounting software.
  • Process payrolls timely and accurately, including agricultural considerations (e.g., H-2A and ITIN workers).
  • Assist with HR/benefits setup, including PTO tracking and compliance.
  • Support check signing, cash management, and related tasks.
  • Research unusual transactions or issues proactively while knowing when to seek guidance.
