In this role, you will support and enhance laboratory operations through the administration, configuration, and optimization of Epic Beaker and related Laboratory Information Systems (LIS). You will play a key part in ensuring that technology solutions meet clinical and operational needs, improve efficiency, and advance patient care.

Job Overview

The Clinical Application Analyst – Epic Beaker will utilize their expertise in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Epic Beaker to perform moderately complex systems administration, configuration, and applications build. This role serves as a resource for implementing technical solutions to meet customer and operational needs, supports existing third-party laboratory applications, and participates in new project development and optimization initiatives.

The Analyst will collaborate closely with DTS team members, laboratory staff, and other stakeholders to conceptualize functionality, define data structures, and develop specifications that align with operational workflows and customer expectations. This role may also include reviewing servers supporting non-Epic clinical applications for security vulnerabilities and coordinating appropriate remediation, including Windows patching and registry updates.

The Analyst serves as a mentor to other Analysts and Clinician Analysts and will be assigned to one or more Epic modules depending on their area of expertise.

What You Will Do
  • Configure, build, and maintain Epic Beaker applications and related LIS systems to support laboratory workflows and ensure data integrity.

  • Provide tiered support for production issues, enhancements, and system upgrades.

  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership, clinicians, and IT teams to evaluate needs and implement solutions that improve quality and efficiency.

  • Participate in new system implementations, workflow redesign, and integration projects involving laboratory systems.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot data interfaces and integration points between Epic and third-party applications.

  • Assist with application server patching, registry updates, and other system security activities as needed.

  • Document system changes, workflows, and standard operating procedures.

  • Serve as a mentor to other DTS team members, providing guidance and support for LIS and Epic Beaker processes.

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable IT, security, and healthcare regulations.

What You Will Need

Education

  • Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Laboratory Science, or a related field — Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field — Preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting Laboratory Information Systems or clinical applications — Required

  • Experience with Epic Beaker or similar laboratory systems — Preferred

  • Understanding of clinical laboratory workflows, data integrity, and regulatory requirements.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across clinical and technical teams.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Working knowledge of server patching, system security, and integration management.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Epic Beaker Certification or Proficiency — Required within 6 months of hire

  • ASCP or other related laboratory certification — Preferred
