Key Responsibilities
Planning & Coordination
- Review and interpret design drawings and project specifications pertaining to steel columns, rafters, and sheeting systems.
- Develop, monitor and update installation schedules in line with project milestones for structural frame erection and enclosure works.
- Coordinate material delivery for steel columns, rafters, roof and wall sheeting, insulation and accessories to ensure no delays.
- Manage daily activities of site supervisors, subcontractors and erection crews for both the structural framework (columns/rafters) and the cladding/insulation works.
Site Execution
- Supervise the installation of structural steel columns and rafter systems, ensuring correct alignment, connections, and integrity prior to sheeting.
- Oversee the installation of roofing sheets, wall panels, insulation, flashings, and accessories once the structural frame is erected.
- Ensure that columns, rafters and sheeting systems are installed according to design, checking alignment, fasteners, overlaps, sealing, finish quality, and structural ties.
- Verify compliance of structural and enclosure works with client specifications, local building codes (including load transfer through columns/rafters) and safety standards.
- Identify and resolve on-site technical or logistical issues—especially those related to steel frame erection and integration of sheeting/cladding works.
Quality Assurance & Safety
- Implement and maintain strict quality control procedures during both the structural steel erection (columns/rafters) and sheeting/cladding installation.
- Conduct routine inspections, maintain checklists and as-built documentation covering structural columns, rafter systems, and sheeting works.
- Ensure adherence to HSE standards and promote a proactive safety culture, particularly when working at height on rafters, and during frame erection.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams and third-party inspectors as required for both structural and enclosure stage inspections.
Communication & Reporting
- Provide daily and weekly progress reports to the Project Manager, covering structural frame erection (columns/rafters) and the sheeting/cladding phases.
- Maintain detailed site records, including manpower deployment, materials consumption (structural steel vs sheeting/insulation), and incident logs across both structural and envelope scopes.
- Attend project coordination and progress review meetings involving structural, procurement, and site execution stakeholders.
- Report risks, delays, and deviations—particularly those impacting the structural frame or enclosure installation—and propose corrective actions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- 5–7 years of experience in steel structure works—particularly erection of steel columns, rafters and sheeting/cladding systems.
- Experience with industrial and large-scale infrastructure projects preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of steel structure components: columns, rafters, purlins, girts, panels, fasteners, insulation systems and their connections.
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings as well as installation manuals for both the frame (columns/rafters) and the sheeting envelope.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project scheduling tools (MS Project / Primavera preferred).
- Familiarity with local construction and structural codes, load paths through columns and rafters, and QA/QC standards for structural and cladding work.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities with structural design, procurement, site execution and subcontractor teams.
- Strong leadership and team management across both structural frame erection and envelope installation.
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and attention to detail (especially in structural alignment, load transfer, and finishing).
- Commitment to safety, quality, and meeting deadlines under both structural and sheeting scopes.
Preferred Certifications (Not Mandatory)
- OSHA or equivalent safety certification.
- PMP or project management training.
- Working at Height certification (particularly relevant when working on rafters and roof installations).
Work Conditions
- Site-based position involving fieldwork, inspections and supervision of both structural frame erection and envelope installation.
- May require travel to multiple project sites.
- Flexibility for extended hours during peak installation phases (frame erection and cladding/insulation fitting).
