Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team on the night shift. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining, with experience in grinding, milling, and CAD/CAM software. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment, specialising in plastics injection moulding and precision component production. The successful applicant will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-quality parts according to specifications. A solid understanding of mechanical principles and proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and tooling is essential. This position is fully paid and requires a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines with precision to produce components as per technical drawings and specifications.
- Programme CNC equipment using CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks or similar tools.
- Conduct grinding, milling, and other machining processes to achieve desired tolerances and surface finishes.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on CNC machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and tooling for assembly, fitting, and finishing tasks.
- Apply basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and quality control checks.
- Work with plastics injection moulding processes where applicable, ensuring compatibility with machining operations.
- Assist in welding or assembly tasks when required to support production needs.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment adhering to health and safety standards.
- Document production data accurately and report any machine issues promptly.
Experience
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery in a manufacturing setting; experience with grinding, milling, or similar processes is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent for programming CNC machines.
- Mechanical knowledge of tooling, fixtures, and machine maintenance procedures.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and assembly processes.
- Understanding of plastics injection moulding techniques is advantageous.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tolerances.
