Position Overview

The CNC Turning Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC turning machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules. The role requires strong mechanical understanding, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Turning Lathe & Milling machines according to daily production requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical diagrams, and machining instructions.
• Select and install appropriate tooling, cutting inserts, and fixtures.
• Adjust machine settings (feeds, speeds, offsets) to ensure accurate machining.
• Perform first-piece inspection and verify dimensions using measuring tools (Vernier caliper, micrometer, gauges, etc.).
• Monitor machining processes and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Conduct routine machine maintenance and ensure tooling is properly handled.
• Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report major faults to the supervisor/maintenance team.
• Document production logs, inspection results, and machine parameters.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO, customer requirements) and safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the machine area (5S compliance).

Qualification & Skills

• DAE (Mechanical), Certificate in Machining, or equivalent technical training.
• 1–3 years of experience operating CNC Turning Lathe machines.
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting parameters, and tooling.
• Skilled in measurement tools: Vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, height gauge, etc.
• Good troubleshooting abilities and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
• Knowledge of safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
