Job Title: Commis Chef (Commi)

Job Summary:

The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes according to company standards. This entry-level position is essential for maintaining consistency, quality, and hygiene while assisting senior chefs in daily operations. The role is ideal for individuals passionate about developing their culinary skills in a professional kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of food items under the supervision of senior chefs.
  • Ensure all ingredients are prepared, stored, and handled safely and hygienically.
  • Follow standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries properly.
  • Support the Chef de Partie and other team members during busy service periods.
  • Adhere to HACCP and food safety standards at all times.
  • Assist in minimizing food waste and controlling portions.
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by senior chefs.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef or kitchen assistant preferred (internship/apprenticeship also acceptable).
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.
  • Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Basic communication skills (English; other languages are an advantage).
