Job Title: Kitchen Steward

Department: Food & Beverage – Stewarding

Job Summary:
The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene in the kitchen and stewarding areas. The role ensures smooth kitchen operations by cleaning and organizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas while following hygiene and safety standards. The ideal candidate should have basic communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and working areas according to hygiene standards.
  • Operate dishwashing machines and ensure proper cleaning of plates, glassware, cutlery, and cooking equipment.
  • Collect and dispose of garbage in a safe and hygienic manner.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries in a clean and organized way.
  • Follow safety and hygiene policies, including proper use of chemicals and cleaning materials.
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff by ensuring equipment and tools are available and clean when needed.
  • Report any maintenance or equipment issues to the supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and food safety standards at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward/Helper preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Basic communication skills (able to understand and follow instructions).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina to handle long hours of standing, lifting, and cleaning.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of basic hygiene and safety practices is an advantage.
