The International Masonry Institute (IMI) — a national labor-management partnership focused on creating a safer, better-built world and empowering people to build responsibly — is seeking a Communications Manager to join our team.

IMI provides education, technical assistance, and outreach to architects, engineers, owners, and contractors across North America. We also support union craftworker training from apprenticeship through advanced certification. Join us in advancing the built environment and the skilled workforce behind it.

About the Role

The Communications Manager will collaborate closely with the Director of Communications to plan, create, and manage content across platforms, ensuring IMI’s voice is consistent, professional, and aligned with its mission. From technical materials and social media content to web development and campaign strategy, this role is perfect for a creative professional who thrives on variety, collaboration, and purpose-driven work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and distribute content for digital and print platforms
  • Contribute to website content strategy and governance, including an upcoming redesign
  • Develop and update technical materials in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Manage editorial calendars and coordinate deadlines with internal stakeholders
  • Create multi-channel content including videos, social media graphics, news articles, press releases, and case studies
  • Expand email automation through segmented and personalized campaigns
  • Track and report key metrics for social media and web content performance
  • Collaborate with external vendors for video production, design, and content creation

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of communications experience, preferably in AEC or labor/trade union environments
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling abilities across formats and audiences
  • Proficiency in tools such as Canva, Capcut, Adobe Creative Suite, HubSpot (or similar), and WordPress
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including editorial calendar management
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field — or equivalent professional experience
