Communications Manager

Sage Ridge School, Reno's only non-sectarian, independent and college preparatory day school serving grades 3-12 since 1997, seeks a dedicated, self-starter to serve as Communications Manager.

The Communications Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and optimization of the school’s communications channels across audience segments, and for content curation and creation in support of prospective family recruitment, advancement/fundraising, and current family, student, community and alumni engagement. The school’s audiences include students, faculty, staff, media, vendors, parents, alumni, donors and community leaders.

The right candidate is passionate about digital and social media, is proficient with writing, photography, design and video/rich media content creation, and seeks to find creative ways to leverage communications channels and content to build relationships with our families and community.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the school’s presence, including social media channels, Compass/Blackbaud platform for current families, newsletters, printed materials, and website on the FinalSite platform
  • Work with school personnel across teams, including faculty, advancement, recruitment, etc. to support the promotion of school events, student activities, fundraising, family recruitment, etc. with timely, high-quality content creation and digital channel engagement
  • Create and manage the editorial calendar and monthly themes, as well as the overarching strategy for web and social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Create, capture and develop unique and compelling content, including taking video footage and photos and writing content and headlines, for printed marketing collateral and content to be posted across digital channels
  • Monitor and analyze the success of the school’s content and engagement, report visit and engagement analytics in the monthly Board report, and make data-driven decisions to improve engagement, website/social/paid performance, and reach across audiences and channels
  • Compile and edit submissions, and write, edit and distribute the weekly Scorpion News and monthly Scorpion Spotlight e-newsletters
  • Gather content and conduct interviews to write and produce content for the Sage Ridge blog and/or edit submissions from faculty and/or parents
  • Format content from the Head of School and other administrators/staff, and write marketing content, to compile the annual Impact Report
  • Create and maintain an organized digital file system for easy access to creative content and manage assets for school reports and calendars, including the management of a digital photo database and training staff/students/parents as necessary
  • Serve as community engagement administrator for social media, including monitoring, posting, liking and responding across channels
  • Lead paid social media campaigns, traditional advertising, and email marketing campaigns, including content creation, implementation and tracking/optimization
  • Manage digital user accounts
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications:Required

  • BS/BA in Advertising, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
  • Strong experience with capturing photos and video footage, graphic design, and editing and production of rich assets into compelling printed and digital content
  • Experience developing and executing social media strategies and campaigns
  • Ability to manage content creation schedules for multiple social platforms
  • Strong understanding of Google Suite
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to relationship-build
  • Excellent writing, editing, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Experience with understanding education at an independent school is a plus
  • Ability to exercise discretion and judgment in fulfillment of responsibilities
  • Must be self-motivated and solution-oriented
  • Be able to thrive in a multi-task environment, while maintaining focus and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Experience with FinalSite, Blackbaud, WordPress, graphic design, and video editing experience

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
  • Must have auditory, visual, and physical skills to be able to perform tasks as outlined in this job description
  • Generally works in standard office conditions and climate
  • Works in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods
  • While performing some of the duties of this job, the employee may work outside and be exposed to various temperature changes including, but not limited to wet, cold, hot, and humid conditions
