EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Provides compliance support and verifies student data. Performs receptionist duties for the department.
IDEA-B FORMULA FEDERAL FUNDED POSITION:
The purpose of IDEA-B is to provide special education and related services to children with disabilities ages 3-21. The regulations implementing IDEA-B define the purpose of the act as a means to do the following:
- Ensure that all students with disabilities have available a free, appropriate public education (FAPE) that includes special education and related services to meet their unique needs.
- Ensure that the rights of students with disabilities and of their parents are protected.
- Assist states and localities in providing for the education of all students with disabilities.
- Assess and ensure the effectiveness of efforts to educate those students.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Requests and uploads prescriptions for SHARS/Medicaid into special education student management system.
2. Creates and maintains databases as requested for compliance.
3. Reviews compliance reports for errors including consent forms and ARDs that need to be locked or finding missing information.
4. Retrieves student data from student management systems as requested.
5. Processes all record requests for inactive files including TREX request as needed and maintains database of yearly records released.
6. Coordinates destruction of records for files stored at the Annex as required by destruction guidelines and maintains log of inactive and destroyed files..
7. Answers incoming phone calls for RAMEC staff and assists visitors upon arrival to the RAMEC Special Education Department.
8. Receives and distributes mail, faxes, and deliveries for the Special Education Department.
9. Projects a positive image that supports the school district while diffusing angry parents and patrons, both walk-ins and phone calls, usually redirecting them to appropriate staff.
10. Maintains confidentiality of information.
11. Reports to work on time every day.
12. Performs additional duties and accepts responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally required to drive personal vehicle in the performance of assigned duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
