Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to manage the day-to-day accounting functions for our construction/project-based business. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, completing month-end close, processing payroll, managing payables and receivables, and preparing financial and job costing reports. The ideal candidate has strong bookkeeping experience and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records in accordance with standard bookkeeping practices
- Perform monthly close, including reconciliations and financial review
- Process payroll using the company payroll system, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing and collections
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Assists with contract management and invoicing
- Follows through with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Produce job costing and project financial reports
- Track and manage inventory, materials, and related costs
- Maintain organized documentation for audits, reporting, and internal review
- Collaborate with management to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making
- Utilize accounting and project-based software systems efficiently
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Construction Bookkeeper, or Accounting Specialist
- Strong understanding of general accounting and bookkeeping principles
- Experience completing month-end close
- Payroll processing experience
- Proficiency in Zoho Books or similar accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with project-based or construction accounting preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with job costing and project financial tracking
- Familiarity with accounting processes for construction or trade-based businesses
- Experience working with inventory or materials management
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
