Construction Manager

Job Description

The Construction Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and overseeing all field construction activities including aerial, underground, and fiber projects. This role ensures timely and quality execution of construction work by supervising in-house technicians and contractors, enforcing safety compliance, and driving operational excellence through leadership and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise direct and functional reports; coach performance to meet organizational goals. Assign, coordinate, and monitor construction tasks including new builds, expansions, and replacements.
  • Conduct routine field inspections to assess work quality, safety adherence, and progress.
  • Collaborate with engineering and developers to review construction design and create bills of material.
  • Maintain resource readiness, including vehicles, equipment, and inventory.
  • Perform walkouts and analyze needs for fiber construction projects.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures; communicate updates to team members.
  • Analyze reports related to service, quality control, and operations to improve outcomes.
  • Ensure consistent application of company safety policies and practices.
  • Lead with sound judgment and independent decision-making.
  • Maintain clear communication across internal departments.
  • Support project documentation, reporting, and any additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role within construction, preferably in fiber, aerial, or underground environments
  • Experience managing crews and subcontractors, and familiarity with safety and quality

Exposure:

  • Cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Logistics, and Permitting
  • Daily field presence and job site supervision
  • Direct management of technicians and subcontractors
  • Coordination with developers and external partners
  • Interaction with Safety, Fleet, and Materials departments
