Job Summary:
The Anaesthetist will provide safe and effective anaesthesia, pain management, and critical care services to patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures. The role involves pre-operative assessment, intra-operative management, post-operative care, and participation in critical care, emergency response, and specialized procedures such as vascular access, ultrasound-guided interventions, and sedation services in imaging suites, in a multispeciality hospital setup.

Key Responsibilities:
1.Pre-Operative Duties:
Conduct thorough pre-anesthetic evaluations and obtain pre operative consent.
Assess patients medical history, allergies, and previous anesthetic experiences.
Plan suitable anaesthetic techniques in consultation with surgeons and physicians.
Ensure all necessary investigations and pre-operative preparations are complete.

2.Intra-Operative Duties:

Administer general, regional, or local anaesthesia safely and effectively.
Monitor patients vital signs continuously during procedures.
Manage airway and ventilation, including difficult airway scenarios.
Perform tube insertions (endotracheal, nasogastric, orogastric) following standard protocols.
Handle any intra-operative complications promptly and efficiently.
Maintain accurate anaesthesia records throughout the procedure.

3.Post-Operative Care:

Monitor patients during recovery and manage post-anaesthetic complications.
Provide pain management, including post-operative analgesia and sedation.
Evaluate patients before discharge from the recovery room or ICU.

4.Emergency & Critical Care:

Respond to emergencies such as cardiac arrests, trauma, and critical ICU cases.
Assist in ICU patient management, including ventilatory support and sedation.
Perform difficult IV line securing, including in pediatric patients, wards, and ICU.
Insert central venous lines and dialysis catheters, including difficult cases using ultrasound guidance.
Conduct needle insertions for dialysis in challenging vascular access scenarios.
Perform ultrasound-guided nerve blocks for perioperative and pain management.
Provide IV sedation in CT and MRI suites and guide staff in safe sedation practices.

5.Administrative & Academic Responsibilities:

Ensure proper documentation of anaesthetic and procedural records.
Adhere to hospital protocols, NABH standards, and infection control policies.
Participate in CMEs, clinical meetings, and continuous professional development.
Train and guide junior doctors, nurses, and technicians in anaesthesia, sedation, and critical care procedures.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives in the department.

Qualifications and Experience:
Education: MBBS with MD / DNB / DA in Anaesthesiology from a recognized institution.
Registration: Valid registration with Medical Council of India / State Medical Council.
Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years post-PG experience in a multispeciality hospital preferred.
Skills: Expertise in general, spinal, epidural, and regional anaesthesia; ventilator management; pain management techniques; vascular access, including difficult IV lines and central lines; ultrasound-guided procedures; pediatric IV access; sedation in imaging suites.
