Contracts Manager

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Contracts Manager to oversee all contractual and commercial matters for our projects and head office operations in the UAE/Middle East region.

The successful candidate shall provide contractual guidance and commercial support to Site Resident Engineers, project teams, and Client Representatives, while also supporting business development activities, including fee proposals, negotiations, and appointment of subconsultants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee contracts administration in accordance with the Contract Document and local practices.
  • Provide contractual and commercial advice to Resident Engineers, project teams, and management on project-related matters.
  • Review reports related to claims, variations, extension of time requests, notices, and contractual correspondence.
  • Assist project teams in preparation and review of contractual letters, notices, and commercial assessments.
  • Make sure that the Site team safeguard the interests of the Employer/Engineer through consistent and professional contract administration.
  • Coordinate with Clients, Contractors, and internal teams to resolve contractual and commercial issues.
  • Support dispute avoidance and assist in preparation of contractual positions and recommendations.
  • Prepare fee proposals, commercial submissions, and consultancy agreements for new design and supervision projects.
  • Participate in commercial negotiations with Clients and subconsultants.
  • Manage appointment and administration of subconsultants and specialist consultants.
  • Maintain proper contractual records, commercial documentation, and reporting systems.
  • Ensure consistency in contractual interpretation and commercial practices across projects.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to project staff on contractual procedures and commercial awareness.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Professionally qualified candidates with additional contractual/commercial certifications will be preferred.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of overall professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Contracts Manager/Commercial Manager role within the Middle East.
  • Strong working knowledge of FIDIC Conditions of Contract and regional construction practices.
  • Experience in consultancy and construction supervision projects is preferred.
  • Proven experience in contractual correspondence, claims management, commercial negotiations, and consultancy agreements.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and negotiation skills.
  • Presentable personality with ability to interact professionally with Clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and contractual documentation systems.
