The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food items according to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards. This role ensures timely and efficient food production while maintaining hygiene, safety, and consistency in a professional kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and standards
- Assist in menu planning and daily specials preparation
- Portion, plate, and present dishes attractively
- Ensure ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and rotated according to standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Follow health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or spoilage
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff or kitchen helpers
Qualifications
- Culinary diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous cooking experience in restaurants, hotels, or catering preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Familiarity with various cooking methods and kitchen equipment
