Cornea Donation Coordinator (Male)

Job Summary

The Cornea Donation Coordinator is responsible for managing the end-to-end cornea donation workflow, from referral and retrieval through tissue evaluation, preservation, dispatch, and recipient surgery. The role provides operational leadership to the cornea counselor team, ensures full chain-of-custody for retrieved tissue, maintains hospital and stakeholder partnerships, and ensures strict compliance with HOTA Pakistan / Sindh HOTA regulations and V4E's Cornea Transplantation Programme (CTP) SOPs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Operations & Tissue Coordination

  • Oversee the end-to-end cornea donation workflow from referral to recipient surgery
  • Coordinate timely retrieval within the designated clinical window across multiple hospital sites
  • Ensure tissue evaluation, preservation, storage, dispatch, and receipt are conducted per SOP
  • Manage tissue inventory, expiry tracking, and disposition decisions
  • Coordinate with focal personas od partner hospitals, for tissue allocation in line with aligned recipient selection guidelines of V4E.
  • Lead incident response for time-window breaches, contamination concerns, or chain-of-custody discrepancies

2. Team Supervision & Capacity Building

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the cornea counselor team
  • Conduct bi-monthly case reviews and learning sessions
  • Identify training needs and arrange continuing professional development

3. Stakeholder & Partner Management

  • Build and maintain working relationships with partner hospitals, ICU/mortuary teams, and Medical Superintendents
  • Coordinate with the V4E Programme Director and Medical Director on borderline and medico-legal cases
  • Represent V4E in committee meetings, donor pledge events, and inter-organisational forums
  • Engage with religious leaders and the Council of Islamic Ideology to support faith-aligned advocacy

4. Documentation, Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all cornea donation forms are completed, verified, and filed across the workflow
  • Maintain end-to-end chain-of-custody documentation for every retrieved tissue
  • Submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly programme reports
  • Conduct internal audits of forms, processes, and storage compliance
  • Ensure all activities are documented in the VisionTrack system
  • Support external audits and HOTA regulatory inspections

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's degree in Healthcare, Public Health, Social Sciences, Hospital Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in healthcare operations, NGO programme management, or hospital coordination
  • Prior experience working with cornea transplantation, organ/tissue donation, or eye-bank operations
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and mentoring teams
  • Willingness to travel within Karachi and across Sindh

  • Time-to-retrieval compliance
  • Team aggregate consent conversion rate
  • Number of new partner hospital tie-ups per year
  • Internal and external audit and compliance scores
  • Timely submission of programme reports

Ethics & Compliance

  • Strict adherence to confidentiality and the V4E Non-Disclosure Agreement
  • Compliance with V4E Child and Women Safeguarding (CWS) Policy
  • Zero tolerance for: financial inducement to families; falsification of records; bypassing consent procedures; sharing donor or recipient identifying information; tissue allocation outside HOTA-aligned guidelines; coercion of grieving families.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs55,000.00 - Rs60,000.00 per month
