Job Summary:

The Cost Control Engineer is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and controlling the costs associated with engineering and construction projects. This role ensures projects are delivered within budget by monitoring project spending, forecasting future costs, identifying cost variances, and implementing corrective actions when needed.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project cost control systems, procedures, and reporting tools.
  • Prepare and maintain cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
  • Analyze project performance and compare actual costs to the budget.
  • Monitor and control project expenditures to ensure alignment with project budgets.
  • Coordinate with project teams to gather cost-related data including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review and validate contractor/supplier invoices and payment certificates.
  • Identify cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support in the preparation of project budgets and estimates.
  • Provide cost input during project planning and scheduling stages.
  • Generate periodic cost control reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Assist in risk analysis and provide cost-related input to risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with procurement and contracts departments on cost-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical) Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cost control, preferably in construction.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in cost control software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Excel, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.


Preferred Skills:

  • Professional certification (e.g., CCP – Certified Cost Professional, PMP) is a plus.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques.
  • Familiarity with project management frameworks and contract management.
