Desktop Support Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Deskside Support Technician to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive technical support to onsite personnel, customers, and service providers, ensuring smooth operation of IT systems and hardware. This role involves troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and maintenance of end-user devices, along with delivering exceptional customer service and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive technical support to onsite personnel, customers, and service providers.
  • Manage end-user onboarding and offboarding, including hardware assignment and retrieval.
  • Perform imaging, reimaging, installation, and configuration of laptops, desktops, and peripherals (docking stations, monitors, etc.).
  • Execute IMAC-related tasks (install, move, add, change) such as hardware break/fix, upgrades, and data migration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware incidents; replicate issues when required.
  • Maintain and update the incident management system to ensure SLA compliance.
  • Monitor, escalate, and resolve tickets promptly to meet service standards.
  • Follow asset management and inventory processes diligently.
  • Provide setup and support for conference rooms, meeting room technology, and MTR devices.
  • Manage provisioning and deployment of VoIP, Android, and Mac devices.
  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure and support teams to escalate and resolve incidents.
  • Support Deskside Management Team in asset management, break/fix, and service desk operations.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices through established knowledge-sharing platforms.
  • Mentor and guide junior Deskside Support Technicians when required.
  • Deliver VIP-level customer support and Smart Hands & Feet assistance to network, server, and security teams.
  • Perform racking and mounting of hardware in comms rooms and IT cabinets.
  • Assist remote teams in troubleshooting by enabling remote access to hardware.
  • Replace and install cabling in comms rooms, including patch cables and related connections.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with a dedication to client satisfaction.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Proven technical expertise in desktop support and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Windows OS, VPN client software (e.g., Citrix), and remote desktop tools (e.g., Bomgar).
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with racking and mounting network and server hardware.
  • Strong time management and workload prioritization skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months
