The Role:

As Development Manager, you’ll sit directly under the CTO and take ownership of technology delivery across a growing product platform. This is a hands-on leadership role on a rolling contract, not a pure people management position.

You’ll lead a small team of engineers while staying close to the code, delivery, and architectural decisions. You’ll translate business needs into robust technical solutions, ensure projects land on time and on budget, and raise the bar on quality, reliability, and scalability.

With a small but experienced team and strong investor backing, this role suits someone who wants responsibility and autonomy without losing touch with engineering.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Executing the technology strategy defined by the CTO

• Owning delivery of software projects from design through to production

• Working closely with the business to shape solutions and technical design

• Mentoring and leading a team of 4–6 developers day to day

• Remaining hands-on with coding, code reviews, sprint planning, and delivery

• Owning overall software quality, performance, and reliability

• Identifying risks early and escalating issues before they become blockers

• Ensuring testing, CI/CD, and production environments are fit for scale

• Promoting strong engineering standards without slowing delivery

• Supporting a cloud migration from Azure to GCP planned for early 2026

Tech Environment:

• Azure and GCP

• ASP.NET / .NET Core

• React

• MongoDB and event-driven architecture (CQRS)

• Windows and Linux

• Jira and modern CI/CD tooling

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• 10+ years in software development with a strong engineering foundation

• 3+ years leading teams as a Development Manager, Tech Lead, or Scrum Master

• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and CQRS patterns

• Proven delivery experience across greenfield and existing platforms

• Strong understanding of Agile delivery and modern software practices

• Comfort balancing speed with quality in startup and scale-up environments

• Ability to spot architectural, performance, and security risks in code

• Experience working in small teams where ownership matters

• Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with senior stakeholders

• Genuine interest in how technology supports business growth
