Meta is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Preconstruction to lead our global Preconstruction team. This role will be instrumental in overseeing the preconstruction phase, developing and executing our commercial approach, leading complex negotiations, and ensuring the successful launch of multi-billion dollar data center projects across self build, lease and retrofits. You will be a leader who can build and manage impactful teams, drive innovation, and establish strategies that balance engineering, schedule and cost. This role requires a leader with proven experience in large scale construction programs who can manage ambiguity, identify and mitigate risks, and foster cross-functional partnerships to deliver world-class digital infrastructure.
- Establish and drive the comprehensive strategy and roadmap for the Preconstruction function within Meta's data center design and construction, aligning with overall company objectives

Build, develop, and lead an impactful Preconstruction organization that executes the defined strategy including launching new projects, defining scope, agreeing project cost, schedule and negotiating with external partners

Manage and execute multi-billion dollar commercial deals with General Contractors (GCs) and other key vendors, setting projects up for successful execution

Lead the evolution of cost, schedule, risk, and scope during the site adoption of product common designs, proactively mitigating site-specific risks including labor and materials

Inform the DEC organization on industry trends, common risks, and program health

Form strategic partnerships and work effectively across multiple organizations to achieve impact and build trusted relationships with adjacent teams and stakeholders

Lead and be accountable for the successful execution of multiple preconstruction program designs — from concept through contract execution — ensuring alignment of cost, schedule, scope, and constructability objectives across internal and external partners

Establish and oversee reporting mechanisms for portfolio-level preconstruction health, including budget, schedule, and risk, and communicate key insights to leadership

Support the development of build strategy and supply chain frameworks — including vendor qualification, procurement roadmap, and contracting models — for new and existing programs

Maintain a network of qualified external partners and monitor industry trends, market dynamics, and labor availability to inform strategic planning and partner engagement

15+ years of experience in preconstruction, commercial management, or a related field within the data center, critical infrastructure, or large-scale construction industry

Proven track record of leading and developing large, impactful teams

Demonstrated experience in establishing and executing complex commercial strategies and multi-billion dollar deals

Experience managing ambiguity and navigating complex project challenges

Experience creating and driving vision and strategy within a large organization

Familiar with large capital programs, ground-up construction and greenfield site development as well as retrofit construction

Experience managing portfolio-level health, including budget, schedule, and risk, and communicate key insights to leadership

Mission Critical/ Data Center experience is preferred

$208,000/year to $265,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
