Director of Human Resources

The Allen County Public Library is looking for a Director of Human Resources to guide a people-first workplace where staff feel respected, supported, and empowered to do meaningful work for our community. This is a hands-on leadership role where strategy meets service-and where you'll make a real difference every day.

Salary: $87,000–$114,000

What you'll do

You'll lead and shape all areas of Human Resources while serving as a trusted partner to staff and leadership.

  • Champion a positive, inclusive workplace culture

  • Lead recruitment and talent strategies

  • Guide employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution

  • Oversee compensation, benefits, and compliance

  • Support training and professional development

  • Advise managers on HR policies and best practices

  • Use employee feedback and data to improve the staff experience

What we're looking for

  • A collaborative, ethical leader who builds trust easily

  • Strong HR experience across employee relations, benefits, and labor matters

  • Clear communicator and thoughtful problem-solver

  • Comfortable balancing big-picture strategy with day-to-day support

  • Experience with HR systems and program administration

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in public or business administration (or related field) plus five years of professional HR experience, or an equivalent combination.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP required.
