Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative oversight of the Student Success Center and Testing. The Director of the Student Success Center and Testing will assist the Dean of Student Engagement and Retention with a variety of activities in the Student Success Center and Testing to provide direct academic support for student learning.

The Director of the Student Success Center and Testing will be responsible for the administrative oversight of the Technology Resource Center computer lab, supervise the SSC Technician and all student lab assistants, and work closely with SSC Computer Technician/Lab Manager and DMC IT Department to follow-up on maintenance of all computer equipment, audio visual equipment and technology in the SSC. The Director will be responsible for the administrative oversight of the Del Mar College Institutional Tutoring Program, the Tutor Support Services Coordinator, staff, tutors, services and policies.

The Director will assist the Dean of Student Engagement and Retention with Student Success Center initiatives, workshops, laptop loaner program, campus events, oversight of computer equipment and maintaining the SSC information monitors. The Director will provide administrative oversight of the Testing Center, including lab management, supervision of Testing Examiners and collaborate with faculty, staff, Access Services and Outreach and Enrollment services for all testing needs. Other duties include, working closely with faculty and staff to ensure SSC services will enhance student retention.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, business, marketing, computer information systems, or related field.

Five (5) years related experience with three (3) years experience in a higher education environment in any of the following areas: student support services, student development, computer lab assistance, webpage development, software application support and/or training, supervision of student workers, and computer hardware maintenance.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft programs.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.

Direct the Student Success Center and Testing daily operations, which will include supervision of: the Tutor Support Services Coordinator, Texting Examiners, Office Assistant and SSC Computer Technician.

Job Duty
Oversee the computer lab personnel and provide student support to include assisting students with access to computer programs and support to use the programs as well as software applications.

Job Duty
Collaborate with the Tutor Support Services Coordinator and Supplemental Instruction Coordinator to provide technology and computer assistance to student assistants, peer tutors, and Supplemental Instruction Leaders.

Job Duty
Coordinate with SSC Computer Technician/Lab Manager and the College Information Technology department regarding hardware and/or software problems and the repair and maintenance of computer equipment, audio-visual equipment, and other technology related equipment.

Job Duty
Oversee the scheduling of rooms, equipment, and/or presentation software for student and staff workshops, mini-sessions, webinars and seminars conducted at the Student Success Center.

Assist students and prospective students who are not-enrolled with academic support and personal issues by general advising and referring to appropriate DMC services.

Job Duty
Manage compliance for all testing center exam administration.

Oversee the coordination of all state, national, professional, and college-specific assessments and tests for both prospective and current students and serve as the GED Chief Examiner

Job Duty
Develop, recommend, establish and monitor internal operational standards, policies and procedures to ensure test security of all testing instruments and compliance with local, state, and federal test regulations.

Manage record keeping activities for all components to ensure integrity and accountability of testing center(s).

Prepare necessary reports for the district, state, and/or federal agencies as required.

Develop and administer the departmental budget.

Approve and manage expenditures.

Forecast short – and long-term budgeting needs.

Supervise departmental staff, assign duties, monitor and assess progress.

Conduct annual performance evaluations.

Ensure departmental staff participates in annual professional developmental activities.

Provide effective direction and leadership appropriate to the student success effort.

Job Duty
Work with other administrators in matters related to student success initiatives, student effectiveness, retention, persistence, and completion.

Coordinate with student service and instructional support services, as well as academic divisions and disciplines.

Coordinate and facilitate campus-wide academic support workshops at the SSC and campus wide.

Job Duty
Develop a strategic plan and oversee the operational management of the Student Success Center and Testing.

Stay abreast of current laws, administrative rulings and state requirements related to special populations and student success initiatives.

Job Duty
Assist the Dean of Student Engagement and Retention with the promotion of varied activities and programs of the Student Success Center and Testing through continuous collaboration between DMC departments, faculty, and staff.

Serve on campus committees as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.
