This position has a budgeted hiring rate of $17.08/hr. The position is classified as an S4. The S4 salary band for all part-time, 12-month positions at the college with this classification have a minimum rate of $15.25/hr and a maximum rate of $21.50/hr.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Support Services Supervisor and the shift supervising Sergeant, the Dispatch/Communications Officer is responsible for providing dispatch, community interface and emergency response. Some secretarial/data entry support to the department is provided as possible around dispatch duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispatch officers and coordinate responses to calls for service and emergencies
  • Monitor and respond to campus-wide security, fire, and alarm systems
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for visitors, callers, and community inquiries
  • Maintain accurate dispatch logs and track officer activity
  • Liaise with local police, fire, EMS, and other external agencies during routine and emergency situations
  • Provide directions and guidance to responding agencies
  • Support community services such as parking permit registration and lost & found tracking


Requirements:

  • Must have good organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff and community.
  • Must be self-motivated, dependable, multitasked and work with little supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Windows basic productivity software such as word processing, excel, spreadsheet, data base, browser, and e-mail.
