Electrical Engineer – PTW (Permit to Work) Qatar

Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer – PTW is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising electrical activities under the Permit to Work (PTW) system. The role ensures all electrical installation, maintenance, testing, and shutdown works are executed safely and in compliance with company HSE policies and Qatar industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:1. Permit to Work (PTW) Management
- Ensure all electrical works are conducted under approved PTW procedures.
- Prepare, review, and validate permits including:
- Electrical Isolation Permit
- Hot Work Permit
- Cold Work Permit
- Confined Space Entry Permit
- Work at Height Permit
- Coordinate with Operations, HSE, and Area Authorities for permit approval.
- Verify LOTO (Lock Out / Tag Out) implementation before work commencement.
- Ensure proper isolation, earthing, and de-energization of equipment.
- Close permits after completion and confirm site restoration.
2. Electrical Supervision & Execution
- Supervise installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of:
- Switchgears (LV/MV/HV)
- Transformers
- MCCs (Motor Control Centers)
- UPS systems
- Generators
- Lighting systems
- Cables and cable trays
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings and method statements.
- Monitor contractor performance and quality of work.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with PTW and electrical safety standards of QatarEnergy.
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessments.
- Enforce use of proper PPE and electrical safety tools.
- Participate in safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Report incidents, hazards, and near misses.
4. Shutdown & Maintenance Coordination
- Plan and supervise electrical shutdown activities.
- Coordinate equipment isolation and energization procedures.
- Support plant commissioning and pre-commissioning activities.
- Ensure timely completion of shutdown schedules.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain PTW records and electrical logs.
- Prepare daily/weekly progress reports.
- Review electrical drawings, single line diagrams (SLD), and load schedules.
- Ensure proper documentation for audits and inspections.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5–10 years of experience in Oil & Gas / LNG / Industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of PTW systems (preferably QatarEnergy standards).
- Experience with LV, MV, and HV systems.
- Familiar with IEC standards and international electrical codes.
- Valid QID with transferable visa preferred.
