Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to provide accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for electrical systems. The Electrical Estimator will play a key role in preparing detailed quotes, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with local laws and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Document Review:

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to fully understand project scope and requirements.
  • Identify all electrical components and systems involved in the project (LV, MV, ELV)

Cost Estimation:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical projects, including costs for labor, materials, equipment, taxes, and other associated expenses as per local regulations.
  • Develop a comprehensive and accurate estimate that meets project requirements while adhering to budget constraints.

Quantity Takeoff:

  • Perform quantity take-offs for electrical components, such as lighting, switches, receptacles, panel breakers, fire alarms, CCTV systems, and electrical circuits, based on project scope.
  • Work with electrical systems in both low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) ranges.

Supplier Coordination:

  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors to obtain quotations for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Negotiate pricing and ensure that the best value for money is achieved without compromising on quality.

Bid Preparation:

  • Assist in preparing both technical and commercial bids, ensuring they are in line with client specifications and expectations.
  • Ensure all required documentation is included for the final bid submission.

Change Orders and Plan Alterations:

  • Understand and manage changes in work orders and plan alterations, making necessary adjustments to the bid and cost estimates.
  • Ensure all adjustments are accurately reflected and documented.

Pre-Bid Meetings:

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings with clients, engineers, and contractors to clarify project scope and deliverables.
  • Assist in providing technical clarification and addressing any questions during the bid process.

Code and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all electrical systems, materials, and designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (local and national).
  • Stay updated with changes in standards and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience as an electrical estimator or in a similar role.

· Strong understanding of electrical systems and components, including knowledge of American electrical standards.

· Proficient in electrical systems such as lighting, switch/receptacle/plugs, panel breakers, fire alarms, CCTV, electrical circuits, and conduits/fittings.

· Understanding of American wiring systems and associated components.

· Understanding of US Standards like NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and UL listing.

· Strong working knowledge of Plan Swift, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel for estimating and project management purposes.

· Excellent analytical skills to review and assess project requirements.

· Strong verbal and written English communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
