The Electrical Inspector will be responsible for supervising, monitoring, and inspecting all electrical works within a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant construction project. The role ensures compliance with project specifications, international codes, safety standards, and client requirements. This position is critical for verifying installation quality, ensuring contractor performance, and supporting the commissioning process
1. Site Supervision & Inspection
- Conduct day-to-day inspections of electrical installations including HV/MV/LV systems , switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, lighting, grounding, and cable routing.
- Supervise installation activities for GT, ST, and HRSG auxiliary electrical systems .
- Verify compliance with IEC, NEC, IEEE, and Oman local authority standards .
- Review and approve contractor work, method statements, and material submissions.
- Perform inspections at key stages: installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
2. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all electrical works conform to project specifications, ITPs, QA/QC procedures, and approved drawings.
- Raise NCRs, SORs, punch lists, and follow through to closure.
- Perform routine audits of contractor work and documentation.
- Inspect and verify equipment manufacturer test certificates and FAT/SAT documentation.
3. Testing & Commissioning Support
- Assist in functional testing of electrical systems including:
- Generator protection systems
- Control circuits
- Switchgear interlocks
- SCADA/ DCS / relay coordination
- Ensure all testing follows approved procedures and safety guidelines.
- Support integrated commissioning activities with EPC contractor, OEMs, and client teams.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate daily inspection records, reports, and logbooks.
- Keep track of construction progress and highlight deviations or delays.
- Review redline/As-Built drawings submitted by contractors.
- Provide weekly progress reports to the site manager/QA lead.
5. Safety Compliance
- Enforce electrical safety rules and ensure compliance with Oman HSE standards .
- Participate in toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and safety walkthroughs.
- Stop unsafe work and escalate safety concerns immediately.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5–10+ years of experience in power plant or heavy industrial projects.
- Minimum 3 years in CCGT or thermal power plant construction preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and international industry standards.
- Experience in inspecting installation of:
- HV/MV/LV switchgear
- Transformers
- Generators and auxiliaries
- Protection & control systems
- Cabling and earthing
- Familiarity with EPC project environments and QA/QC processes.
- Oman/GCC experience is an advantage.
- Certifications such as NEBOSH , QC Inspector – Electrical , or equivalent preferred.
