The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for supervising, monitoring, and inspecting all mechanical construction and installation activities for a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant . The role ensures that all works comply with project specifications, international codes, OEM recommendations, and HSE standards.
The position requires extensive field presence, strong technical understanding of power plant systems, and the ability to coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, and client teams.
Mechanical Supervision & Inspection
- Inspect installation, alignment, and commissioning of all mechanical equipment including:
- Gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators
- HRSGs (Heat Recovery Steam Generators)
- Balance of Plant (BOP) mechanical systems
- Pumps, compressors, valves, heat exchangers, piping networks
- Fuel gas systems, water treatment systems, cooling systems
- Verify compliance with ASME , API , ISO , and project-specific standards.
- Conduct visual inspections, dimensional checks, hydrostatic / pneumatic testing, and equipment preservation checks.
- Review and approve method statements, ITPs, and QA/QC documentation.
- Monitor welding activities and ensure compliance with WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.
Quality Assurance & Control
- Implement and monitor project QA/QC procedures on-site.
- Ensure contractors submit high‑quality inspection records, test reports, and mechanical completion dossiers.
- Identify non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Participate in FATs/SATs as required.
Project Coordination
- Provide daily/weekly reports on progress, quality issues, risks, and site observations.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, and vendor representatives.
- Participate in construction meetings and resolve technical issues with engineering teams.
- Support commissioning teams during system walk‑downs and punch listing.
Health, Safety, & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure mechanical activities comply with site HSE standards.
- Enforce safe work practices during lifting, pressure testing, and equipment installation.
- Report unsafe acts/conditions and participate in HSE audits.
3. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience
- 5–10+ years experience in mechanical inspection for large power or industrial projects.
- Minimum 3 years dedicated experience in CCGT power plants is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of gas turbine technology (GE/Siemens/Mitsubishi preferred).
- Experience with EPC project environments in the Middle East is an advantage.
Technical Competencies
- Excellent understanding of ASME, API, ASTM, and ISO mechanical codes.
- Knowledge of turbine installation practices, HRSG systems, and BOP equipment.
- Strong ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, and datasheets.
- Experience with mechanical completion systems (e.g., Aconex, Hexagon, MCPlus) is beneficial.
