Estimation Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Steel Structure Estimation Engineer to prepare accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects. The ideal candidate will analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements to deliver competitive and precise estimates while supporting bidding and project planning activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Review structural drawings, specifications, and tender documents
• Perform material take-offs for structural steel (beams, columns, plates, connections, etc.)
• Prepare detailed cost estimates covering material, fabrication, erection, transportation, and labor
• Coordinate with design, fabrication, and project management teams to clarify scope and assumptions
• Analyze vendor and suppliers quotations and recommend cost-effective solutions
• Identify potential risks, value engineering options, and cost-saving opportunities
• Support bid submissions and respond to technical and commercial clarifications
• Maintain cost databases and historical project records
• Ensure estimates comply with project specifications, standards, and timelines

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
• Proven experience in steel structure estimation (typically 1+ years)
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes
• Ability to read and interpret structural and shop drawings
• Proficiency in estimation tools and software (e.g., Excel, Tekla, AutoCAD, or similar)
• Good knowledge of international codes and standards (AISC, ASTM, BS, etc.)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids

Preferred Skills

• Experience with large-scale industrial, commercial, or infrastructure steel projects
• Familiarity with contract terms, BOQs, and tendering procedures
• Knowledge of market steel prices and fabrication productivity norms
