Estimation Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compile, and submit complete and compliant tender documents (technical and commercial).
  • Review project drawings, specifications, BOQs, and technical data to define scope and requirements.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs for civil, electrical, and mechanical works.
  • Develop and prepare BOQs (Bills of Quantities) and detailed cost estimates (materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors).
  • Prepare proposals, submittals, bid summary sheets, and final tender submissions.
  • Issue RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors; follow up and obtain competitive quotations.
  • Analyze and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations for compliance, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct pricing analysis, cost control, and risk assessment to ensure competitive bids.
  • Identify project risks, special requirements, and potential cost impacts.
  • Manage tender queries, clarifications, and addenda updates.
  • Coordinate with internal teams for technical inputs and commercial alignment.
  • Ensure timely submission of tenders (online and/or physical).
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, assumptions, revisions, and tender documentation.
  • Support ongoing projects with change orders, variations, and cost adjustments.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Equivalency certificate required.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in estimation, tendering, or cost control roles.
  • Proven experience in construction, landscaping, or infrastructure projects.
  • UAE market experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a focus on cost estimation and risk assessment.
  • In-depth knowledge of UAE construction codes, standards, and market pricing.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., CCS Candy, PlanSwift).
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with Primavera (planning and cost tracking).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for client and vendor interactions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Solid understanding of construction and engineering principles.
