Job Summary:
The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and technical proposals for fire protection and firefighting projects. This role involves analyzing project requirements, reviewing drawings and specifications, preparing BOQs (Bill of Quantities), coordinating with suppliers and clients, and ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.
Key Responsibilities:1. Cost Estimation & BOQ Preparation
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for firefighting systems, including fire pumps, sprinklers, suppression systems, alarms, and fire extinguishers.
- Ensure all estimations are in line with UAE Civil Defense codes and NFPA standards.
2. Proposal & Tender Preparation
- Develop competitive technical and commercial proposals for tenders and client requirements.
- Ensure all documents are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Prepare technical submittals and compliance statements for client approval.
3. Supplier & Vendor Coordination
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain a database of material costs and vendor details for reference.
4. Site & Project Analysis
- Conduct site visits when required to understand project scope and constraints.
- Analyze project risks and suggest cost-effective solutions.
5. Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with the Sales, Procurement, and Project teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors to clarify technical and commercial aspects.
6. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure estimates comply with local regulations, Civil Defense requirements, and safety codes.
- Maintain an organized record of all cost estimates, bid submissions, and supplier quotations.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and justifications for management review.
7. Cost Optimization & Value Engineering
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining quality standards.
- Recommend alternative materials or design modifications to optimize pricing.
8. Market & Industry Analysis
- Stay updated with market trends, new technologies, and cost variations in fire protection systems.
- Conduct competitive analysis to ensure pricing remains attractive in the industry.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in fire protection estimation, tendering, or cost engineering.
- Certifications: Civil Defense certification is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of fire protection systems (sprinklers, suppression, alarms).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office (Excel), and estimation software.
- Knowledge of NFPA, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, and Civil Defense regulations.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Languages: Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
- Driving License: UAE driving license is preferred.
