Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Heavy Civil Engineer/Estimator to support our field and office operations. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong technical skills in civil takeoffs, surface modeling, and construction technology who thrives in both on-site construction sites and office environments. Workplace attendance and reliability are essential for success in this position.
Duties
- Perform accurate civil quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications
- Develop and manage GPS TIN surface models for machine control and field operations
- Prepare and maintain as-built drawing and project documentation
- Utilize and continuously develop skills in the Trimble Business Center
- Coordinate closely with project managers and field crews
- Provide technical support for field layout, grading and earthwork operations
- Ensure data ccuracy and proper file management standards
- Split time effectively between office-based tehcnical work and on-site project support
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with General Contractors and Vendors
- Actively source bid opportunities and projects
- Provide post-bid summaries
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction processes and site operations.
- Experience in heavy civil construction (earthwork, grading, utilities, roadwork, etc.)
- Solid knowledge of construction management principles, contracts, and project management practices.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings accurately.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Experience building GPS surface and TIN models
- Familiarity with or williness to learn Trimble Business Center
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites

Pay: $55,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
