Job Title: Estimator & Planner – Printing Industry
Job Summary:
Responsible for estimating costs and planning production for various printing jobs, including sheets, brochures, packaging, labels, and specialty products. Ensures accurate costing, efficient scheduling, and timely delivery while maximizing profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimation:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for packaging jobs, including folding cartons, corrugated boxes, and luxury packaging.
- Calculate material requirements: paperboard types, GSM, lamination, coatings, foiling, and finishing.
- Determine die-cutting, creasing, gluing, and other finishing process costs.
- Factor in labor, machine time, wastage, and outsourcing costs.
- Maintain updated costing templates and price lists for materials and services.
- Schedule production jobs in coordination with Sales, Procurement, and Production teams.
- Monitor workflow, machine availability, and job deadlines to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate with suppliers for raw materials and outsourced processes.
- Track job progress, identify delays, and implement corrective measures.
- Compare estimated vs actual costs and prepare variance reports.
- Suggest cost optimization strategies and workflow improvements.
- Maintain records of quotations, production schedules, and job cost sheets.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree in Printing Technology, Production Management, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in printing estimation and planning.
- Knowledge of multiple printing processes: offset, digital, large format, packaging, labels.
- Proficient in MS Excel and estimation/planning software.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
