Executive Director, Integrated Marketing & Communications

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director, Integrated Marketing & Communications to lead integrated marketing and communications strategies for clients in the financial services and insurance sectors.

This role is pivotal in shaping brand narratives, enhancing reputations, and driving measurable impact through integrated marketing and communications strategies across channels, including paid media (digital and traditional), owned channels (web, social, email), and earned media (including media relations and influencer engagement).


The ideal candidate brings deep sector expertise, strong executive presence, and a proven ability to counsel C-suite leaders while also leading the execution of integrated campaigns. You are equally adept at strategic planning and tactical delivery. You can craft compelling content, optimize paid and owned channels, activate media and influencer partnerships, and guide teams to deliver programs that enhance brand equity, generate measurable business outcomes, and build stakeholder trust.

Responsibilities

Integrated Marketing & Communications Strategy

  • Develop and oversee integrated marketing and communications plans that align with client business objectives in highly regulated industries.
  • Lead brand and reputation management efforts, including proactive positioning, reputation management, and storytelling tailored to financial services and insurance.
  • Ensure channel integration and consistency across paid media (digital and traditional), owned platforms (web, email, social), and earned media (PR, influencer, partnerships).

Marketing Campaigns & Performance

  • Partner with internal teams to develop and optimize campaigns across digital and traditional channels.
  • Leverage SEO, SEM, and content marketing to drive visibility, audience engagement, and enhance reputation.
  • Establish KPIs and oversee campaign measurement and optimization.
  • Align marketing strategies with growth goals to maximize opportunities for clients.

Media, Stakeholder, & Audience Engagement

  • Cultivate strong relationships with trade media, business press, influencers, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Help secure meaningful media coverage, thought leadership placements, and influencer activations that integrate with broader marketing campaigns.
  • Advise senior leaders on executive visibility, brand-building, and demand generation strategies spanning public speaking, media interviews, digital thought leadership, and targeted marketing.

Content & Campaign Development

  • Partner in the creation of compelling, sector-relevant content across paid, owned, and earned channels, including ad campaigns, landing pages, SEO-driven web content, social campaigns, press releases, and thought leadership pieces.
  • Shape messaging frameworks and storytelling approaches that connect marketing and communications goals to business outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment of campaigns with compliance requirements, brand standards, and measurable marketing objectives.

Client Leadership & Growth

  • Serve as a senior point of contact for integrated marketing and communications programs.
  • Build and sustain trusted client relationships by providing proactive, solutions-oriented counsel that connects reputation management with marketing performance.
  • Identify opportunities for account growth and new business development by demonstrating integrated value across paid, earned, and owned strategies.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor professionals across marketing and communications disciplines, fostering collaboration and growth.
  • Provide strategic direction and clear feedback to elevate campaign performance and communications impact.
  • Guide teams in balancing proactive storytelling, campaign execution, and real-time reputation and performance management.

What you'll need

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in integrated marketing, communications, and reputation management within an agency or corporate setting, ideally in financial services or insurance.
  • Proven ability to manage executive-level communications, brand positioning, and reputation management with composure and strategic clarity.
  • Demonstrated success leading campaigns across paid media, owned platforms, and earned media.
  • Strong background in stakeholder engagement, executive visibility, and digital reputation management strategies, such as SEO, SEM, and content marketing.
  • Exceptional storytelling, content development, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex information into compelling narratives and measurable marketing outcomes.
  • Experience using analytics and performance data to optimize campaigns and report on ROI.
  • Proven track record in managing and mentoring teams across marketing and communications disciplines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
