About the Role:

As a Fabricator within the utilities industry, you will play a critical role in constructing, assembling, and repairing metal structures and components essential for utility infrastructure. Your work will directly impact the reliability and safety of utility services by ensuring that fabricated parts meet precise specifications and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and other tradespeople to interpret blueprints and technical drawings, transforming raw materials into finished products. This role demands a strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a fabricator or metalworker in an industrial or utilities setting.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to operate fabrication tools and machinery safely and effectively.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and practices relevant to fabrication work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) or related fabrication skills.
  • Experience working within the utilities industry or on infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgy and material properties.
  • Ability to work with a variety of metals including steel, aluminum, and copper.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using various tools and machinery such as welding equipment, grinders, and saws.
  • Inspect and test fabricated parts to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to modify or repair existing structures as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety regulations and company policies.

Skills:

The required skills such as blueprint reading and machine operation are essential for accurately fabricating components that meet project specifications and safety standards. Welding and metalworking skills enable the fabricator to join and shape materials effectively, ensuring structural integrity. Safety awareness is critical to prevent accidents and maintain compliance with industry regulations. Preferred skills like CAD familiarity enhance the ability to understand and sometimes modify designs digitally, improving efficiency and precision.
