Overview

Facilities & Services Officer (Health & Safety) - Aldar Education. The role is to deliver facilities and general services across the School, develop a service culture, and ensure efficient deployment of staff and resources in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • To be responsible for the delivery of facilities and general services across the School, delivering a service culture and ensuring efficient, effective staff and resource deployment.
  • Maintain school facilities and company housing to high standards (cleanliness, maintenance and safety) and ensure the support service teams perform effectively.
  • Oversee school accommodation requirements, ensuring staff housing aligns with school expectations and Aldar Education housing policy.
  • Oversee efficient and cost-effective purchasing and contracting in line with the school budget and Aldar Education policy.
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance are completed satisfactorily, appoint external service providers when needed, and follow up on deficiencies.
  • Ensure security and efficient operation of the site, daily site checks, and cleaning standards are maintained.
  • Implement issued policies, systems, processes and safeguarding measures in line with Aldar Education HQ.
  • Plan and resource school-based events and activities as required.
  • Coordinate essential central services (catering, security, maintenance, cleaning, transport, waste, recycling) and act as the point of contact for external service management.
  • Support space utilisation and accommodation planning with the OSM and Group Housing Manager; procure and maintain staff accommodation standards.
  • Monitor daily operation of Building Management Systems (where installed) with the site services team.
Leadership & Management
  • Manage external support service teams to meet school expectations, secure resources, and deliver value and high service standards.
  • Lead the facilities and general services teams to maintain high service standards and a service culture.
  • Ensure team members undertake professional development, appraisals, and individual development plans to build a high-performance team.
Finance, Commercial & Procurement
  • Oversee budgets and expenditure, manage costs, and ensure best value for facilities and building standards.
  • Explore opportunities for shared resources and services across partner schools to improve access to service teams and resources.
  • Ensure adherence to Purchasing policy and the Delegation of Authority (DOA) processes.
Relationship & Stakeholder Management
  • Ensure school compliance with local government authority regulations and timely completion of internal and external audits.
Health, Safety & Environment
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture within teams and ensure compliance with current legislation and Aldar Education HQ guidelines.
  • Monitor health and safety performance of contractors and suppliers; support environmental aims and objectives with timely delivery.
  • Ensure audits related to health, safety and environment are completed in a timely manner.
Accommodation Management
  • Arrange staff accommodations in line with school policies, oversee allocations, move requests, and liaise with housing committees.
  • Negotiate terms with property management companies, oversee furniture procurement and refurbishment, and conduct check-in/check-out inspections.
  • Act as main point of contact for tenants, coordinate with management agents for repairs, and oversee cleaning, landscaping, security, and utilities in leased accommodations.
  • Monitor tenant complaints and ensure timely resolutions; manage orientation, key handovers, inventory, and offboarding processes.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent graduate-level qualification for the assigned functional area(s).
  • Certificate of Facilities Management / NEBOSH or IOSH.
  • Minimum Experience: At least 5 years' experience in a Health & Safety role, preferably within Education or Hospitality.
  • Experience Working With Company Accommodation is Preferred.
  • Job Specific Knowledge & Skills: Fluent English (written and spoken); attention to detail; ability to multi-task and work under pressure; strong organizational skills; forward planning related to local government compliance; influencing and networking with cultural sensitivity; good interpersonal and supervisory skills.
