Facility Manager

1. Building Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee daily operations of facilities (offices, factories, hospitals, schools, etc.)
  • Ensure HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems function properly
  • Schedule preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Manage repairs and emergency maintenance
  • Maintain building appearance and cleanliness

2. Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments
  • Implement fire safety and emergency procedures
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health standards
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits and inspections

3. Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Prepare and manage facility budgets
  • Monitor expenses and control operational costs
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers
  • Approve purchase of supplies and equipment
  • Analyze utility usage and implement cost-saving measures

4. Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Select and supervise contractors (cleaning, security, maintenance)
  • Monitor service quality and performance
  • Ensure contracts are fulfilled according to agreements
  • Manage service-level agreements (SLAs)

5. Space Management

  • Plan office layouts and workspace allocation
  • Coordinate office moves and renovations
  • Ensure efficient use of space
  • Support workplace optimization strategies

6. Asset & Inventory Management

  • Track building assets and equipment
  • Maintain asset registers
  • Schedule asset lifecycle replacement
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies

7. Sustainability & Energy Management

  • Implement energy efficiency initiatives
  • Monitor utility consumption
  • Promote sustainable building practices
  • Ensure environmental compliance

8. Security Management

  • Oversee building security systems (CCTV, access control)
  • Coordinate with security personnel
  • Develop emergency response plans

9. Communication & Leadership

  • Act as point of contact for facility-related issues
  • Lead maintenance and support staff
  • Report facility performance to senior management
  • Coordinate with HR, IT, and other departments

10. Strategic Planning

  • Develop long-term facility improvement plans
  • Manage capital projects
  • Support organizational growth and expansion plans
