Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our Annapolis family law firm. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to the managing partner of the firm, who has a high-volume family law litigation practice. This role requires strong organizational skills, especially with tracking deadlines, effective communication, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and the desire to work in a high-paced work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide executive administrative support to one attorney, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and organizing files.
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents, including motions, complaints, answers, and financial statements.
- Draft correspondence to include letters and emails to clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- E-filing documents on the MDEC system.
- Maintain organized case files using Microsoft Word, PDF (Foxit), Excel, and Clio.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, mediators, experts, and courthouse staff regarding cases.
- Collaborate with the legal team to prepare for hearings, trials, and meetings by organizing materials and summarizing case details.
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience providing executive administrative support in a professional setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with family law is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
- Experience using MDEC and Clio is a plus, but not required.
- Proficient in legal administrative tasks, including document management and deadline tracking, and organization.
- Excellent proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality documentation.
- Strong clerical skills with proficiency in standard office software applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
