Key Responsibilities
1. Labor Management & Site Execution
- Frontline Supervision: Directly lead and manage gangs of skilled finishers (painters, carpenters, tilers, and decorators) to ensure daily production targets for finishing works are met.
- Work Allocation: Assign daily tasks to the finishing team based on the priority of work fronts and ensure every worker understands the specific patterns, color codes, and safety requirements.
- Material Coordination: Coordinate the timely delivery of finishing materials (paints, gypsum boards, adhesives, hardware) to the work area, ensuring the team has the necessary tools and protection materials to work without interruption.
- Productivity: Monitor and drive the pace of finishing work to align with the weekly look-ahead schedule, reporting any delays or material shortages to the Site Engineer immediately.
2. Quality & Technical Compliance
- Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret detailed architectural shop drawings and finishing schedules to ensure works are executed to the exact dimensions, levels, and aesthetic alignments required.
- Inspection Readiness: Ensure that all finishing works are completed to the required quality standards (smooth surfaces, uniform paint application, perfect tile alignment) before calling for an internal inspection.
- Protection of Works: Oversee the protection of completed finishing works to prevent damage from other trades during the final stages of construction.
- Snagging Management: Proactively identify and rectify minor defects (snags) during the construction process to ensure a smooth final handover to the client.
3. Safety & Documentation
- HSE Enforcement: Enforce strict adherence to UNEC’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies. Conduct daily Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and ensure all workers are wearing appropriate PPE, especially when working with chemicals or at height.
- Safe Work Practices: Monitor high-risk activities such as working on mobile scaffolds or MEWPs, ensuring all safety measures are in place.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate daily logs of labor attendance, material usage, and work progress. Report any site incidents or near-misses immediately.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Secondary School Certificate or Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Interior Design.
- Experience: Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience in construction finishing works, with at least 5 years as a Finishing Foreman on large-scale high-rise, luxury residential, or hospitality projects in the UAE/GCC.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of various finishing materials, application techniques, and high-end detailing.
- Proven ability to manage large, multi-national labor forces (30+ workers).
- Ability to read and understand complex architectural blueprints and technical finishing schedules.
- Language Skills: Fluency in Hindi/Urdu and basic English is essential for communicating with the workforce and management.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional eye for detail, strong leadership presence, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
