Key Responsibilities
1. Labor Management & Site Execution
- Frontline Supervision: Directly lead and manage gangs of masons and helpers to ensure daily production targets for blockwork and finishing are met.
- Work Allocation: Assign daily tasks to the masonry team based on the priority of work fronts and ensure every worker understands the specific dimensions, patterns, and safety requirements.
- Material Coordination: Coordinate the timely delivery of blocks, cement, sand, tiles, and adhesives to the work area, ensuring the team has the necessary tools (mixers, cutters, levels) to work without interruption.
- Productivity: Monitor and drive the pace of work to align with the weekly look-ahead schedule, reporting any delays or material shortages to the Site Engineer immediately.
2. Quality & Technical Compliance
- Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret architectural shop drawings to ensure masonry and finishing works are executed to the exact dimensions, levels, and alignments required.
- Inspection Readiness: Ensure that all blockwork and tiling are completed to the required quality standards (proper mortar joints, plumb surfaces, and correct leveling) before calling for an internal inspection.
- Accuracy: Verify that wall openings for doors and windows are correctly positioned and that tiling patterns match the approved designs.
3. Safety & Documentation
- HSE Enforcement: Enforce strict adherence to UNEC’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies. Conduct daily Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and ensure all workers are wearing appropriate PPE.
- Safe Work Practices: Monitor high-risk activities such as working on scaffolding for external plastering, ensuring all safety measures are in place.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate daily logs of labor attendance, material usage, and work progress. Report any site incidents or near-misses immediately.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Secondary School Certificate or Technical Diploma in Masonry/Construction.
- Experience: Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience in masonry and finishing works, with at least 5 years as a Mason Foreman on large-scale high-rise or mixed-use projects in the UAE/GCC.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of various block types, plastering techniques, and tiling/stone fixing.
- Proven ability to manage large, multi-national labor forces (30+ workers).
- Ability to read and understand complex architectural blueprints and technical details.
- Language Skills: Fluency in Hindi/Urdu and basic English is essential for communicating with the workforce and management.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership presence, an eye for detail in finishing works, and the physical stamina required for extensive site-based supervision.
