Firefighter I - 1055

The purpose of this job is to provide emergency services, including fire suppression, medical care, and mitigation to emergency and non-emergency events. Educates citizens on fire prevention practices. Maintains fire stations, apparatus, and equipment; operates apparatus and equipment in emergency environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job.   • Monitors and maintains fire station, apparatus, and equipment.


  • Operates a variety of fire suppression and emergency medical equipment.

  • Participates in ongoing work-related training.

  • Responds to calls and mitigates emergencies and events.

  • Fosters public relations and educates the public on fire safety, prevention, and job duties.

  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.


  • Less than 1-year experience in fire service, medical-related, or related field.

Licenses or Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Must successfully complete prescribed training to obtain Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license, and Firefighter I and II certification within probationary period.

  • Maintenance of licenses and certifications are requirements for continued employment.

  • Incumbents are required to maintain the mental/physical health required to perform the essential functions of the job. Required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-employment medical physical and at least annually thereafter.

  • Incumbents are required to wear a respirator and/or self -contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) as needed.

If you are currently a licensed EMT or a State of Missouri-certified Firefighter I/Firefighter II, please attach a copy of your certification. (Not required to be hired).

You must be 21 years old by Thursday, April 30, 2026, to be considered for this position.
